Library Environment & Sustainability Policy

We believe in the power of business and creativity to help address the climate emergency and be an active part of a long-term sustainable solution.  We’ve developed a set of principles for how we work so we can be accountable to ourselves and others.  We work with companies who share similar goals so we can be part of a community of like-minded businesses sharing common, positive aims.

The key points of our policy are:

Make it our mission

  • We recognise that safeguarding the environment is central to our success as a business. It’s why we do what we do and guides how we do what we do.

Go beyond

  • Exceed all the environmental legislation that relates to our organisation’s responsibilities.
  • Apply our principles to the places where we live.
  • Use local solutions wherever possible to support community and reduce CO2 emissions.
  • Support environmental organisations and charities through pro-bono work and through our profits.

Shrink our carbon footprint

  • Minimise waste by evaluating our operations and ensuring they are as efficient as possible.
  • Benchmark our energy and water consumption and target annual reductions
  • Reduce our use of travel and focus on technology and public transport solutions.
  • Become a Carbon Aware business with the aim of being Carbon Neutral as soon as we can.
  • Actively promote recycling both internally (paperless working, recycling bins, use of green cleaning, ethical brands) and provide environmental guidance to our home-workers, customers and suppliers.
  • Minimise toxic emissions through the careful selection of our production partners and the source of our power requirements and suppliers.

Get our partners on board

  • Choose to actively work with partners who share our common goals.
  • Include environmental and social accountability into our supplier code of ethics.
  • Choose not to work with clients or suppliers who do not have a clear environmental policy in place and who fail to take responsibility for their actions.
  • Go as far down the chain as we can

Use creativity

  • Encourage clients to creatively address environmental and social issues through their marketing
  • Develop our own product range to minimise the environmental impact of both production and distribution.
  • Develop creative solutions for clients that help address the environmental impact of their activity.
